Chemical fume effect on long term health.?

I accidentally breathed in sulfuric acid fumes recently. What’s the long term and short term health effects of this?

Industrial hazards
Although sulfuric acid is non-flammable, contact with metals in the event of a spillage can lead to the liberation of hydrogen gas. The dispersal of acid aerosols and gaseous sulfur dioxide is an additional hazard of fires involving sulfuric acid.

Sulfuric acid is not considered toxic besides its obvious corrosive hazard, and the main occupational risks are skin contact leading to burns (see above) and the inhalation of aerosols. Exposure to aerosols at high concentrations leads to immediate and severe irritation of the eyes, respiratory tract and mucous membranes: this ceases rapidly after exposure, although there is a risk of subsequent pulmonary edema if tissue damage has been more severe. At lower concentrations, the most commonly reported symptom of chronic exposure to sulfuric acid aerosols is erosion of the teeth, found in virtually all studies: indications of possible chronic damage to the respiratory tract are inconclusive as of 1997. In the United States, the permissible exposure limit (PEL) for sulfuric acid is fixed at 1 mg/m³: limits in other countries are similar. Interestingly there have been reports of sulfuric acid ingestion leading to vitamin B12 deficiency with subacute combined degeneration. The spinal cord is most often affected in such cases, but the optic nerves may show demyelination, loss of axons and gliosis.

Did you & your kids have the Swine Flu shot: Did you read this?

A warning that the new swine flu jab is linked to a deadly nerve disease has been sent by the Government to senior neurologists in a confidential letter.

The letter from the Health Protection Agency, the official body that oversees public health, has been leaked to The Mail on Sunday, leading to demands to know why the information has not been given to the public before the vaccination of millions of people, including children, begins.

It tells the neurologists that they must be alert for an increase in a brain disorder called Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS), which could be triggered by the vaccine.

GBS attacks the lining of the nerves, causing paralysis and inability to breathe, and can be fatal.

The letter, sent to about 600 neurologists on July 29, is the first sign that there is concern at the highest levels that the vaccine itself could cause serious complications.

Most educated people knew not to get the vaccine in the first place. The information was out there, even though the Obama Administration worked hard to suppress it.

Chemical/ Health Question Please answer?

In Chemistry Class we were experimenting with calcium chloride, barium chloride, etc. and my rubberband from my braces broke. I reached into my mouth to pull it out and now the back of my throat burns and the corner of my mouth where I pulled out the rubberband has a dull burning sensation. Is this something serious?

It can be pretty serious, but it also can be nothing. However, you should treat it as if it is serious and deal with it soon. Depending on how bad the pain is, you might even want to go to the hopsital. Of course, if it is a mild sensation than I wouldn’t worry for now.

Eco Friendly pet health tips?

Hi everyone!

I am currently working on a newsletter for the vet clinic where I work and was looking for quick input. The theme is "Going Green: Eco friendly pet tips" and will cover natural foods, biodegradable litter, composting, and other environmentally friendly products on the market for pet care. Any suggestions on what you do to promote a green pet (cat, dog, fish, pocket pet, horse, anything!) would be greatly appreciated. I just recieved the assignment today and would love to hear from as many of you as possible as soon as possible.

Tell me what you do to go green. Even if it just using recycled materials, I would love to hear and share your suggestions (with your permission – so if you post, it may be published, so by posting here you are giving permission!) with our community, staff, and clientele.

Also – is there one big area of focus you are interested in as pet owners? While the major article will focus on tips in general, I have a secondary and tertiary article to address a particular area of eco friendly pet care in depth. What specific themes would you (as a pet owner) want to know more about? Would you rather read more about natural diets, grooming, waste disposal, specific products.. etc?

Thank you in advanced for all of your ideas and input. If any of you are interested in reading the final product, let me know and I will link you to it (it is posted online as well).

Just as a note so no one gets upset – I will be posting this question under general pet, dogs, and cats to make sure I can recieve a wider range of answers!
Yikes! Not a pet lover are we. Just to note though, animals on thier own are perfectly eco freindly (as they are a natural part of the environment and ecology). What makes pets not eco friendly is the support they require from humans, meaning it is the owners that are not eco friendly. All I am asking is for other people’s opinions on eco friend ways for the owners to care for thier pets – reducing that impact on the environment. If there is nothing educational or informative to be gained, then don’t bother to answer.

i do know some dog owners that have them on veggie diets, much lower carbon footprint. doesn’t work for cats.
litter; sawdust pellets or better, shavings, from a local source, composted rather than thrown away, is the only green litter. you cant use the compost for the veg. patch of course, but its fine for round trees and ornamentals.

will an all organic diet improve your health and cause weight loss?

will an all organic diet improve your health and cause weight loss?

or does it not cause you to lose weight?

Definitly the less calories the better for you.
you will also have improvements in skin and hair

Will you still take the swine flu vaccination knowing this?

In the UK a letter sent to about 600 neurologists on July 29, is the first sign that there is concern at the highest levels that the vaccine itself could cause serious complications. A leaked reply from the Health Protection Agency, the official body that oversees public health, has been leaked to The Mail on Sunday, leading to demands to know why the information has not been given to the public before the vaccination of millions of people, including children, begins.

It refers to the use of a similar swine flu vaccine in the United States in 1976 when:

* More people died from the vaccination than from swine flu.
* 500 cases of GBS were detected.
* The vaccine may have increased the risk of contracting GBS by eight times.
* The vaccine was withdrawn after just ten weeks when the link with GBS became clear.
* The US Government was forced to pay out millions of dollars to those affected.

Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS), could be triggered by the vaccine.

GBS attacks the lining of the nerves, causing paralysis and inability to breathe, and can be fatal.

Do you think enough testing has been done, or does the fact the immunisation is ‘Law Proof’ tell us there hasn’t?

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1206807/Swine-flu-jab-link-killer-nerve-disease-Leaked-letter-reveals-concern-neurologists-25-deaths-America.html

I cannot take the vaccination. I had GBS when I was in my early 20s, so that puts me in a risk group that should not take the vaccine.

BTW, my remission took a little over 2 months, and the medical bills were in the 100s of thousands of dollars (I was young and uninsured) in the early 1980s despite there being no treatment (some physical therapy and a hospital room cost 100s of thousands way back then, so I hate to think what it costs now).

What is a good health insurance for children with special needs?

My son is on a feeding tube due to a small bowel transplant he received last year. My husband and I are returning to a full work schedule and our health insurance (Tricare) does not cover a nurse for him, or special daycare because his only special need is the feeding tube and the medication he receives through it. Apparently that’s not enough. So is there a good company that I can purchase insurance through who will cover these types of things for him?
